CHALLENGE

The overarching goal was to design and launch a website that:

  • Loads fast and stays stable even under heavy traffic.
  • Highlights the professionalism of the client's work and presents their services and project portfolio as attractively as possible.
  • Meets accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1 Level AA).
  • Follows search engine optimization best practices.
  • Makes it easy for non-technical staff to manage content.

The biggest challenge was delivering high performance and strong SEO while keeping content management flexible and integrating with external systems.

SOLUTION

The Boring Owl team developed and implemented a system made up of the following components:

  • Frontend: Next.js with SSR and ISR, for fast loading and content updates.
  • Backend: Strapi as a headless CMS, making it easy to manage text and all other content on the site, and supporting multiple languages.
  • Database: PostgreSQL, handling data storage and access with optimized queries and indexes, and kept secure with regular backups.
  • Hosting and infrastructure: Coolify integrated with Cloudflare CDN for faster loading, SSL and DDoS protection.
  • Third-party integrations:
    • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager: Analytics tools for monitoring.
    • Mailchimp: An email platform for sending newsletters.
    • Webhooks and a content revalidation system.
