Zeplin
one minute of reading
Zeplin is one of the most popular tools dedicated to designers and developers. Its main purpose is to simplify the process of transferring a project from designers to developers.
Zeplin is another online graphics editor that allows easy creation of user interfaces and greatly improves and supports collaboration between UI and UX designers, project managers and developers. It is not a standalone tool like Firma or Sketch, but it does provide integration with them, allowing you to create designs in those tools and then import working versions into Zeplin.
Zeplin - effective collaboration in the development of modern user interfaces
This state-of-the-art tool allows seamless collaboration between user interface designers and developers, eliminating the difficulties that arise from the specifics of their work. It offers automatic generation of design specifications and code snippets, and assigns different roles and permissions: administrator, editor, developer and reviewer. It allows comments to be easily discussed and managed within a project. Rather than real-time collaboration, Zeplin provides helpful features that allow you to organize your project and sort screens by tags, which proves extremely useful for large projects or when working on screens designed for devices with different resolutions. It also allows you to control code fragments - the names of the project layers automatically take on the names of style classes. Also, just by moving the mouse over a layer, it displays all the parameters and styles of the text or graphics. Zeplin has a functional "Global Style Guide" mode that allows you to collect, share and combine various project resources. It allows full integration with workflow tools such as Jira, Trello, Slack and VS Code. Its interface is designed to be user-friendly for beginners who are not involved in design, such as project managers and copywriters, while at the same time it offers great capabilities for professional designers and developers thanks to its many plugins, as well as plugins for Sketch, Photoshop, Figma and Adobe XD. The main disadvantage of Zeplin is that it does not subsume a built-in design prototyping tool.
