Agriculture & Horticulture / AgroTech
In agriculture and specialist horticulture, we work with retailers of growing equipment and supplies. We build online stores and configurators that guide customers through putting together a complete kit - because here people don't buy a single item, they buy a system where everything has to fit together. We combine technology with processes typical for the industry - from seasonality to large catalogs and products that have to be compatible with each other.
Our clients in agriculture and horticulture
Farm and garden machinery in online sales
Selling agricultural or horticultural equipment and supplies often takes more than a standard online store. Products have many parameters, come in different variants and often form part of a larger system whose components have to fit together.
A kit, not a product
Irrigation systems, grow lighting, growing equipment and greenhouse installations are made up of many components that work together. A store that sells these components as unrelated products shifts the risk of a mistake onto the customer; a store that guides customers through putting together a complete set sells more and gets fewer returns. That's where a configurator comes in naturally, checking that components are compatible and suggesting anything that's missing — exactly how the grow box kit configurator we built works, picking the equipment and filling the cart on its own.
Customers in this industry also tend to be very practical: they buy seasonally, come back for consumables and ask about availability before driving over. A customer account with order history and quick reordering of past items does more here than a loyalty program — it's a standard feature of the online stores we build for this industry.

„Boring Owl built us a product selection system connected to our store. It's on track to pay for itself. We're happy.”

Review from ClutchThe basics
What AgroTech changes on a farm and in a horticultural business
Technology for agriculture doesn't stop at online sales. Custom systems can also support work planning, record keeping, crop monitoring, data management and the exchange of information between workers and devices.
The most important thing is to fit the solution to how users actually work. For apps used out in the field, that can mean a simple interface, fast data entry and the ability to work with limited internet access, among other things.
How we work
How we run agriculture projects
We start a project by getting to know the process and the people who will use the system. We look at which tasks take the most time and what technology can simplify. Based on that, we define the scope of the first version and design an architecture that allows the system to grow later with new features and integrations. Depending on the project, we can connect the new solution with an online store, an ERP system, a product database, an external API or other tools the company already uses, among others.
On your side are data on fields and crops, the required documentation and someone who works in the field. On our side are development, syncing, integrations and a rollout outside the growing season.
Decisions
Decisions that determine whether the system will actually be used
Ease of use. The system should cut work down, not add another administrative chore.
What happens without signal. Working offline and syncing later is a basic requirement in this industry. You also need to decide what happens when two devices record conflicting entries.
Integrations. The data often already lives in the store, the ERP, warehouse systems or other apps. Instead of retyping it by hand, you can connect the systems.
Room to grow. We design solutions so that new features can be added as the product and users' needs evolve.

Scope
Expert knowledge built into the interface
A good digital product can take over some of the knowledge customers used to get from a salesperson or advisor.
In the GrowTent configurator, product rules help users put together a compatible kit on their own. A similar approach works for selling irrigation systems, greenhouse equipment, lighting, machinery, parts and other products that need specialist selection. What we build
What can we build?
We design and develop, among other things:
- online stores for the agriculture and horticulture industry,
- product and kit configurators,
- B2B and B2C product catalogs,
- web and mobile apps,
- systems for handling data and processes,
- customer portals and internal tools,
- solutions using artificial intelligence and automation,
- integrations with ERP, e-commerce and external APIs.
AI can support data analysis, automation of repetitive tasks, product recommendations, customer service and processing information from different sources, among other things. We match the use of artificial intelligence to the company's real needs instead of adding it just because it's fashionable.
We tailor the solution to the process it's meant to improve — instead of starting from a ready-made list of features.
The result
Less manual advice, a simpler purchase
A configurator can take over some of the repetitive questions about choosing products and guide customers through the whole process on their own. Users get to the right kit faster, and the sales team can focus on more complex cases.
At GrowTent, the configurator automatically selects compatible components and sends the finished kit to the online store's cart.
FAQ
Questions we hear from agriculture and horticulture
- We build custom online stores, product configurators, B2B and B2C catalogues, web applications and systems for working with data. We always tailor the scope to the specific business model and process.
- Yes. A configurator can match compatible products based on parameters and user responses, then create a ready-made set or cart. We built such a solution for GrowTent, among others.
- In many cases yes. We integrate custom applications with e-commerce platforms, ERP systems, databases, payment systems and external APIs. We establish the integration scope after analysing the systems the company already uses.
- Such a solution is possible. If the app is to be used on a farm, in a greenhouse or in the field, we can design a mechanism for saving data locally and synchronising it later once the connection is restored.
- Yes. Not every project requires building a product from scratch. We can develop an existing application, redesign its interface, add new features or prepare integrations with additional systems.
- The configurator itself is usually a few to several weeks, depending on the number of parameters and the complexity of the rules. The longest phase rarely lies on our side: it's writing down the compatibility rules that today exist only in the sales team's heads. It's worth starting with one product category, launching it, and only then expanding the scope.
- Yes, and that's usually how we do it — the configurator is a separate application that creates a cart in the existing store at the end. In GrowTent, the completed configuration reaches the store via the sales platform's API, so payments, shipping and order handling stay where they already work. You don't need to rebuild the store to add a configurator.

Let's build digital products for your company together
Other industries
SEE ALLFinance / FinTech
We design and develop digital solutions for financial services, insurance and lending companies and FinTech startups. We build online application forms, calculators, customer portals and custom systems, combining good UX with data security and a reliable architecture. We simplify processes that should feel simple to the user — even when complex rules, integrations and business requirements are running underneath.

Real Estate / PropTech
For developers, real estate agencies, rental operators and PropTech companies, we build systems that bring order to sales, rentals and property data. We build custom CRMs, listing portals, booking systems, customer portals and analytics tools, among other things - integrated with the solutions your team already uses.

Construction / ConTech
In construction and ConTech, we work with contractors, developers and design firms. We build construction project databases, job management systems and websites that bring order to B2B communication. Digitization arrives later here than elsewhere, so the starting point is often replacing paper and spreadsheets with one coherent system with a change history.

Education / EdTech
We build e-learning platforms and LMS systems for EdTech startups, universities, training companies and language schools. Here, success is measured by completed courses, not by the length of the feature list — so we start with the learner's journey: the first visit, visible progress and getting back to learning that was interrupted two weeks ago. Payments, group licenses and reports all serve that one goal.

Law / LegalTech
We design websites and custom software for law firms, in-house legal departments and LegalTech companies. We build calculators, qualifying forms, document workflow systems and solutions that make case handling more efficient, among other things. We automate repetitive processes and leave legal judgment to the lawyer.

Automotive / Mobility
We work with parts manufacturers and distributors and automotive brands that sell online. We build stores and catalogs where customers get to the right part - by make, model and engine version, by OE number or by replacement. We make sure that expanding into new markets means configuring the existing platform, not building another store from scratch.
