DevOps & Architecture

We design and tidy up infrastructure so that deployments are repeatable, the system is easy to rebuild and the environment is ready for further growth. We automate CI/CD, describe infrastructure as code and work with Docker, Kubernetes and the AWS, Azure and GCP clouds. We also help when your current architecture starts holding the product back — costs are rising, the database can't keep up with traffic, deployments are becoming risky or the system is hard to scale further.

The basics

What DevOps really means and when your architecture needs an audit

DevOps isn't a job title or a tool, but a way of working in which building and running a system aren't two separate worlds. In practice, it comes down to three things: deployments should be repeatable, infrastructure described as code, and failures visible before a user reports them.

An architecture audit is needed when cloud costs are growing faster than traffic, when a deployment needs someone to perform steps from memory, when nobody can say what will happen if one server fails, or when the system has to handle growth it hasn't seen before. Another symptom is fear of deploying on a Friday — that's not about the team's temperament, but a lack of trust in the process.

How we work

From an infrastructure audit to automation and Infrastructure as Code

We start by getting to know the current environment: infrastructure, costs, access, the deployment process, backups and how failures are handled. That lets us point out the biggest risks and agree on the order of changes. First we secure the critical elements, then we automate deployments and move the infrastructure configuration into code. Next, we put in place monitoring, alerts and the other mechanisms needed to keep the system running reliably.

We work with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. We choose the technology based on the real load, budget and project requirements, and roll out changes gradually to reduce risk and avoid unnecessary downtime. On your side, we need access, knowledge of the real workloads and a decision on how much downtime is acceptable. On our side are the design, implementation and a handover that leaves your team able to maintain it.

Decisions

Architecture decisions that cost the most when they're made badly

Kubernetes or a simpler setup. Kubernetes solves real problems with many services and variable load. With one application and predictable traffic, it adds a layer someone has to understand in the middle of the night. If there's nobody on the team who can maintain it, it isn't a saving.

Cloud or your own server. The cloud wins on flexibility and time to launch, but loses on cost under steady, high load. Do the math before migrating, based on real usage, not the price list.

How much downtime is acceptable. It's a business decision, not a technical one, and it translates directly into cost. An architecture that survives the failure of an entire data center is significantly more expensive than one that needs an hour to restore. Both can be right — as long as someone made the choice deliberately.

What not to do. Don't start with tools; start with what needs to improve. Don't keep configuration only in your provider's console — that's knowledge that disappears along with the person. And don't consider a backup working until you've restored the system from it in a drill.

Scope

Infrastructure as code, a pipeline from day one

We set up the CI/CD pipeline at the very start of the project, so deployments are automated and repeatable. We describe infrastructure as code using Terraform or Pulumi, which lets us version changes and recreate environments without manual configuration. We containerize applications in Docker and use Kubernetes when the system's scale and architecture genuinely require it. We work with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.

Technologies we work with

Infrastructure

We describe environments in Terraform, package applications as Docker images, and larger systems are orchestrated by Kubernetes — the infrastructure lives in code and can be rebuilt, not just repaired.

Architecture

Architecture consulting for growing systems

We help when your current architecture starts limiting the product's growth: deployments take longer and longer, the database can't cope with growing traffic, and changing one element affects the whole system. We don't recommend microservices just because they're popular. We analyze which elements are really worth splitting out, what can be optimized without rebuilding the whole system and how to prepare the architecture for further growth.

We can implement the recommendations ourselves or together with the client's team. We document key decisions as ADRs (Architecture Decision Records), so it's clear not only how the system works, but also why it was designed the way it was.

Observability

Monitoring that wakes you up before your customers do

We configure application and infrastructure monitoring, centralize logs and set up alerts for events that genuinely require a response — such as 5xx errors, slower response times or queue problems. We also take care of backups and restore procedures. A backup shouldn't just be made, it should also be tested regularly. We also analyze cloud resource usage, right-size instances and remove unused resources. This keeps the infrastructure not only stable, but also predictable in cost.

FAQ

Questions we hear before an architecture audit

  • We analyse the current infrastructure, deployment process, environment configuration, monitoring, backups, costs and potential failure points. After the audit you receive a prioritized list of risks and recommendations, ordered by their impact on the system.
  • When deployments become risky or time-consuming, infrastructure costs keep rising, the system has scaling problems, or it's hard to predict how it will behave during a failure or sudden traffic spike.
  • Not always. Kubernetes works well for more complex systems with variable load, but for simpler applications it can add unnecessary complexity and maintenance cost. We match the solution to the scale of the project.
  • We work with all three. The choice depends on your current infrastructure, the services you need, data requirements, expected load and costs.
  • Not always. With variable load, the cloud often lets you match resources to demand more precisely. With consistently high utilization the difference can be much smaller. That's why we analyse actual usage and projected costs before any migration.
  • In most cases, no. We can roll out changes in stages using parallel environments, gradual traffic shifting and a prepared rollback plan.
  • Yes. We can implement the solution independently or work alongside the client's team. We document the infrastructure and architectural decisions so the team can continue developing and maintaining the system after the project ends.

Web Development

We design and build custom web applications - from an MVP that lets you quickly validate an idea to large platforms and systems developed over years. We build both the front end and the backend, APIs, databases, admin panels and integrations with external systems. We work with Next.js, React, Node.js, NestJS, Python, PostgreSQL and MongoDB, among others. We create solutions tailored to a specific business process: SaaS applications, internal systems, sales platforms, websites, marketplaces and CMS systems.

UX/UI Design

We design UX/UI for web and mobile applications and B2B systems - from analyzing user needs and early wireframes to the finished interface and a design system in Figma. We don't design screens in isolation from the product. We look at user journeys, analytics data and technical constraints to create a solution that's easy to use and can be built efficiently. After the product launches, we can come back to heatmaps, session recordings, analytics and user interviews, so that the next changes are driven by data, not assumptions.
